Lego Star Wars – Build Your Own Empire
For the Star Wars and / or Lego fan in us all, Lego brought a new era of enjoyment when they agreed a license with Lucasfilm, which allows them to produce a single line of Star Wars Lego toys. The Lego Star Wars series has been available since 1999 and has been continuously developed. It was introduced with characters and vehicles of Star Wars original trilogy (Episodes IV-VI). Since then there have been new sets and releases covering prequel trilogy (Episodes I-III) until the last Clone Wars animated movie and TV series.
All the pillars of the Star Wars franchise are available in the form of Lego. The characters, for the most part, maintaining the typical figure of Lego. This means they have a square body with a block-shaped head, with only slight variations like colors and accessories such as coats or hats / helmets. However, due to the large difference between the shape and size of many of the characters in Star Wars, unique molds original and were created for the Lego Star Wars line. Darth Vader for example, has its own head and easily recognizable shape of the head, as Stormtroopers, Yoda and many other foreigners and characters. Yes, the lightsabers are available with some figures too!
Outside of the characters, Lego Star Wars also produces all recognizable and famous ships and cars of the franchise. This includes the ultra-popular Millennium Falcon, which has been modified and improved since its original release. Also available, of course, is the X-Wing fighter. Other vehicles and vessels include the Imperial AT-STs, TIE fighters, a rebel Blcckade Runner (the ship is pursued by the Imperial Star Destroyer in the opening scene of the original film) and various crafts speeder. There is also room sets including the Death Star, the Rebel Base Hoth and more.
In addition to these characters and vehicles, Lego has launched a wide range of Star Wars products, including several additions to its line technique, which relies on complex parts and movement and are less classic look reminiscent of block, feel and construction of Lego figures. It was also released a series of mini figure magnet with a dozen Star Wars characters. In addition, Lego Star Wars released several products for Ultimate Collector series, which are large and very complex designs. The Millennium Falcon in this series, with over 5,000 pieces, was the largest and most complex Lego products ever released to the public.
The single most popular Lego Star Wars product however would be the video game series. These games sold extremely well and arrived in Critical Acclaim both Star Wars and gaming community. The first game was based on the prequel trilogy, and the second set is based on the original trilogy. Subsequently, both were released together in a complete addition.
Lego Star Wars toys, figures, and products are fun for almost everyone. If you are an adult reliving childhood, or a child who discovers the first series, Lego Star Wars blends the best of two great franchises in an impressive line of products that should give you hours and hours entertainment.
