Back in the 13 th century, Venice was just a small town in Italy. It was a very important part of Italy and was known by the name of the Venetian Republic. This Republic was small, with a population in the region of 150,000 people. However, the Republic was a great success trade, which was the construction of ships, and was able to produce a warship in just thirty days. This was a very rapid change, made possible by the fact the yards of 15,000 local residents, a staggering ten percent of the state population. In addition to the shipyard, the Republic of Venice labor required in all aspects of daily life. The Republic was a well oiled machine that ran smoothly and well and this meant that the citizens of the Republic of Venice were wealthy and successful. This wealth, luxury and extravagance, coupled with the beauty of the state, made the Republic attractive to the world.

It was this wealth that he would perform the traditional Venetian mask. Over time, citizens of the Republic of Venice began to realize that if you hide your identity that can carry out their daily lives in secret and without fear of reprisal. With so much personal wealth in the state, people were often reach agreements and agreements with other citizens outside the eyes of the law. With a population as small as it was, many wanted to carry out such agreements without other people knowing your business, so the wearing a mask became popular.

Once people began to see others wearing masks, it became apparent that additional benefits could be held. Using mask hides his identity and his social status is not known to others. This allowed officials and business owners to be treated equally and to prevent any form of inequality or prejudice. It also enabled all citizens of the Republic to give their views on issues that were important to them, allowing them anonymity in the process. Soon all city residents wore masks to continue with your daily life.

This mutually beneficial to all masks would not last long though. It was not long before people start taking advantage of the concealment of identity and benefit from their anonymity. Knowing that there was any impact of their actions, because no one could identify the society began to behave more generously and without fear. As a city busy with business travelers and the Visitors descend on them every day, sexual promiscuity became commonplace and the game is known to occur throughout the day and night, throughout the city. In fact, the game was still occurring in the convents and carried out by men, women and children. Homosexuality was beginning to spread throughout the Republic and was not condemned there as in the rest of the country. Women were able to flaunt their sexuality in revealing clothes and engaged in promiscuous behavior. Even those who had taken religious vows as monks and nuns, were doing the same activities as the rest of the population, the use of fashionable clothes, the gambling and prostitution.

The capital of Italy, Rome, learned of the activities taking place in the Republic of Venice, but for some time decided to ignore them as long as the Republic continues to make regular and substantial financial deposits. However, a decision was finally reached to prohibit the use of masks throughout most of the year, only allowed in a period of three months from 26 December. Over time this has been gradually reduced and it is more commonly associated with the festivities of the week known as Carnival or Mardi Gras.
