What is the best weekend to spend in the Mardi Gras?
I want to spend a week at Mardi Gras and I plan my flight, hotel, program, etc. when is the best time to go down there. I was thinking 1/30/09 – 2/07/09.
Well, being there for the last part of the Mardi Gras is the best option – that way you have the experience of some of the biggest, most popular parades: Bacchus, Endymion, Orpheus, etc – to be held during the last 4 days. Have you been to New Orleans before? None of the shows actually take place in the French Quarter, but you may want to stay there anyway and the experience of madness not a true "tourist", however, head to where the majority of the parades roll ("Uptown") and pretend to be a "local."
