LARP Campaigns
Why a Campaign LARP
Going on LARP Adventure weekend is fun in itself. As with most people taking the larp will involve a lot of hobbies and like to play a series of events times a year usually as the same character. Going on an adventure with a beginning and an end is large and is necessary because the players need to feel they have something which ended at after the event. However, if there is something in the next larp event weekends which is linked to the one with the player, adding a bit more enthusiasm and Continuity helps players feel they are participating more fully in the world.
Examples of campaigns
Although There are many different types of events I'll talk larp medieval fantasy campaign, since they are the most common worldwide. A good example of a campaign is that HeroQuest-larp ran a few years ago was called the "Dawn of the Dead" and the general theme was that the magicians of the world had discovered a way to turn any person who died in the living dead. Then instigated a war to create more combat deaths as a result more and more dead. The players which lasted HeroQuest LARPing events that year were constantly struggling more and more difficult to undead throughout the year. Although each had its own plot adventure only players soon realized that once it got dark we had to be more alert and set guards at all times and the fear and tension of the events became more pleasant.
How to end a campaign LARP
The first thing to do when writing a larp campaign is to decide how it will end and ensure that it is a big event because many can participate as much as possible. Taking the above example HeroQuest ran a weeklong event where players found a way to block the control held necromancy the undead. This was difficult to achieve, but the result was that all the undead turned against their masters and necromancers were defeated.
How to start a campaign LARP
First you should announce his players to a new campaign is starting so that the first event will involve as many people as possible which can then tell others what they have learned so much in games and. When the real of live action role for the new campaign for players to achieve, but something to learn about new threats. Back at the dawn of the dead players were at a weekend event where realized on Saturday and Sunday that people who had died in the days before coming back and attacking as the undead the next day.
Make sure you have some twists and subplots
It is important to have unexpected events and things happen that the players are not coming, like reading a good book or watching a good movie, if participants can always see what is about to happen is not so nice. The main HeroQuest turn would have an ally with a man lich players that although it was a powerful undead itself was not happy with the power of the necromancers were winning and wanted to stop but could not do it alone.
LARP campaign tips
It's a good idea not to put everything in stone in the beginning; by that I mean to be flexible and allow room for change. No matter how big is my original idea may seem to always find room for improvement as the season progress. Also remember that it is primarily about larp everyone has fun so make sure you are writing campaign is going to be nice. Sure obtain feedback between good and bad events so that you can ensure the right track. Input always welcome players and referees campaign HeroQuest has functioned for 22 years now, but has had numerous campaigns and mini sub plots written by more than 50 people.
