Unlikely Places: Faith and deliveries Exuberant Spirit Guide Kent Curtiss Band
Unlikely Places
The faith and the guiding spirit Kent Curtiss Band exuberant rendition
By Brian D'Ambrosio
For Kent Curtiss, the search for God begins in his own heart. He recalls in your prayers, and he makes sincere attempts to heal, protect and nurture the divine correspondence.
It is a faith so strong that makes music stand out in Kent Curtiss Band the vast middle of devotional music that has saturated, maybe even overwhelmed the country for more than a decade.
In fact, the CD-based group Corvallis titled debut is unlikely places is a powerful body of work, incorporating pop melodies, guitars irregular folkies sing alongs, and even an embodied soul and gospel feel. It's deceptively accessible, but repeated listens reveal more and more layers and moving parts.
"We're bringing a lot positive messages to the table, "says Kent Curtiss, who wrote or co-wrote all twelve songs on the CD.
Crisp and clean in its sound, it is unlikely places explores ways of living a meaningful religious life in the face of increased uncertainty criticism and the ecological crisis, while Pollyannaish optimism for the future and the hope for a better understanding of the connections between humanity, religion, ecology and culture.
"The theme of this album is one of hope, "says Curtis." When hope dies, there is nothing more crushing than that. The loss of hope can destroy you. We're playing something that is full of hope and wonder. "
The band, which Curtiss described as rock, pop and urban influences, is a way to convey this positive message full of hope through "in a way that speaks to someone," says Curtis.
While Curtiss recognizes the potential of evangelization through contemporary music, is not prepared to package the band's music in a way that is tough or aggressive, opting for a much more subtle no "people beat on the head with the Bible," says Curtis.
Indeed, Curtiss understood that the Church has always been a patron of the arts, and knows that one way that I can satisfy your desire is to continue contributing spiritual music that promotes Christian values.
However, one does not need early Christian or falsely hug embrace Christianity, to enjoy the sincere efforts and spiritual, and social commentary of a group of talented musicians, including Tom Nash on guitar, Cyndy Hull on the keyboard, and Curtiss Janet, that adds a voice for the CD.
"We are a group of Christians and non-Christian band," Kent says Curtiss. "Our music comes through generations, spiritual and musical boundaries."
Curtiss main job is as a builder housing, and that he considers his music as something that, at least for now, is mostly being played and performed as a leisure activity.
"This is definitely a vocation, "says Curtis." Let's enjoy it and see what happens and see where it goes. This is something you do for love of music and love for the meaning behind it. We are building a fan base and a lot of fun. "
Curtiss began playing music as a hobby for more than a dozen years. It has been ten years since he began writing his own songs, expressing themselves through ideas rooted in their own self-reality.
Their music conveys Curtiss positivism, there is too much light on the world to get lost in the negativity of darkness. It is therefore difficult to get away from places unlikely without the feeling that you can always get what you want and that the events will be for the better.
Using slave spiritual and repetitive hooks catch the listener, this album is so catchy that attractively out of your head you need a lobotomy. Takes a few listens to fully digest the tempos cheerful but fans of patients soon discover the intangible wealth of the Conference. The beauty here is that the Kent Curtiss Band has been writing and playing music that people remember more than likely, even after the disc has been placed back in the pack.
"I really would like to earn a reputation as a good band playing and singing live, "says Curtis." We hope our music puts people at ease and draws them in. We had to build a is a band that has a lot of fun and good moves … our integrity is all we have. "
The most obvious of the band's music is the way that mixes a danceable groove with a tight melodic pop attack. Add on top of the catchy songwriting and mixing some becomes absolutely intoxicating, confirming that good music and the spiritual impact, need not be mutually exclusive.
Being optimistic that the music does not usually have much to say and spiritually bands that really want to communicate their faith often redundant to soft music, unlikely places is unique in its strong focus directly and flooded spiritually.
But really, that's not as important as the brightness, the brightness, the sound of the songs. From the beginning of the CD, the book is illuminated by a spiritual dimension, nothing explicit, perhaps, but always implied.
Ultimately, it feels like Curtiss feel comfortable with what really believes and has long since reached an agreement with the experiences of their education. He sees music as a journey rather than a destination, and at this point in the development of broadband, which has a simple goal: to continue making records.
There are so many bands that form, record an album and then disappear not want to join their ranks.
"We really would like to pass the test of time," said Curtiss. "We will not be just a band making throwaway disposable."
