Children do not want fairy costume for Halloween
If you know me a little, you know I'm Belgian.
In Belgium, which is always celebrated the Day All Saints and Day of the Dead in 1st and 2nd of November instead of Halloween and I can not say that these are extremely fun to write.
In Belgium too, the weather is always rainy, so, because I work in a school, children are often inside and not outside, and whenever I have to find an activity for them, lest they get bored.
This week I also had to find some Halloween subjects to write.
Therefore, I found the solution: instead of writing an article dedicated to Halloween and called "top 10 Halloween Costumes for Children", based on articles and information written by adults, children asked what are the Halloween costumes that they would like to put on the 31 October.
I must admit that I was terribly disappointed. When I was a kid, I loved being dressed like a princess, baroness, White-Snow, etc. for the carnival, the boys were dressed as Robin Hood, Prince of Arabian Nights, cowboy, Indian, Musketeers …
But what kind of dress to the 2007 children like?
I asked the kids at school what kind of disguise who want to dress for Halloween.
The responses were diverse, but there was little magic touch.
"What kind of Halloween costume would you like for Halloween, Sylvie?
"Scream costume, like the mask, of course, Madame Domi!"
She is only 10 years! I thought his answer would be a Cinderella or Esmeralda costume. It was not! She wanted to dress the Scream's murderer costume. Why? Because it was the movie Scream I saw more interesting!
Anaïs response was:
"A dress of rich witch costume with a pointed hat, a wig black, a large hooked nose with a big button on it, long nails like claws and pointed shoes. "
Agon hesitated between the Devil's costume: the same as in the Bible, with a tail, a fork, horns … or a pirate costume.
"Like Johnny Depp in Pirates of the Caribbean?" I asked him.
"No, sometimes pirates are skeletons and I want to be a skeleton-ghost-pirate."
Another responded:
"I want to wear the Monster Mash costume, lady. "
The child has probably heard of the Monster Mash show when he saw The Simpsons' Halloween. I love the song Monster Mash, but never saw the Monster Mash in person and do not think anyone saw this monster and knows what kind of costume he dresses.
The youngest of the children interviewed Dress like a Superman or a Batman costume.
My greatest surprise was Cynthia answer, who we call Brutus because it is a delicate child. Cynthia wants to dress a princess costume.
Thus, the top 5 Halloween costumes children are:
Scream's murderer costume
Witch costume,
The costume of the devil,
Pirate costumes
Spiderman or Batman costume.
I'll interview my 40 year old friends about what you like dress as Halloween costumes!
I think I was amazed!
